One thing that Bruce Lee (pictured above) was aware of was the importance of building strength, mobility, and quickness.  Just like the great Bruce Lee I have a similar mindset when it comes to training for any form of sports performance and conditioning and this is especially true for the world of MMA. One great body weight drill that I like to incorporate into my fighters’ strength and conditioning program is the hindu push up drill.  This particular exercise is excellent for mobility, core stability, and overall core strength.  These are all traits necessary for quickly developing the ability to evade punches and kicks while being able to dish them out at the same time!  Check out my video demonstration below involving the hindu push up!

The great thing about body weight training is that you can achieve a lot without the need for any equipment. Gravity can be a hard nosed #%#@* when applied in the right way! I think you know what I mean especially when it comes down to controlling your own resistance through the effort of some dynamic motion.  Once you get a handle on the hindu push up you then will want to start thinking about how to progress.  The next little demonstration I have lined up for you below is a more intense variation of the hindu push up drill which is known as the dive bomber push up!  This is the hindu push up’s evil twin.

The bottom line is that if you are serious about kicking your fitness or MMA strength and conditioning program into high gear you’ve got to work on training mobility and strength at the same time! This is necessary for any strength and fitness program and is something that the general public and many athletes lack within the scope of their training.  If you want to learn more killer tactics like this one then you need to sign up to join my emailing list for FREE.
