The New Year’s Resolutions And The Patterns Of Strength

So it’s New Year’s eve and as I sit here thinking about closing out 2015 and welcoming in 2016 I can’t help but think about some of the things I’ve noticed over the past year. The population in our society is changing and I ain’t just talking about the numbers either. There has been a shift in our culture that has been building momentum for the last 6 to 8 years, but for me it seems that 2015 really started to present this in a much more profound way in my humble opinion.

The Culture Of Weak Minds And Weak Bodies

If you’ve been reading the BRF blog for a while you know that I feel this current culture is weak mentally. This is a trait that has been growing steadily more and more in the past 6 to 8 years. I really don’t care if you agree with this assessment or not , but it comes from society having raised and coddled an entire generation of spoiled brats.

Once again, there are exceptions to the rule, but the rule is that kids today are predominantly handed everything. And many of them to a large degree are incapable of thinking for themselves.

Additionally when we combine this with the fact that they are growing up in a digital era and would much rather be a part of a virtual world in the form of video games and handheld devices…rather than learning what it feels like to bust their ass on the sidewalk riding a bike then we end up with a weaker society that finds itself staring down the beginning of the new year.

Problems are perpetuating from the fact that people have lost the function and the desire to build on the function of their bodies. Society is collapsing physically which is in turn causing a great deal of mental and spiritual weakness at the same time.

It’s the same old story this time of year every year. The fact that people are talking about New Year’s Resolutions in most cases boils down to one simple fact…a lack of commitment. The truth is that if many people did what they set out to do for 2015 they wouldn’t be talking about doing the same thing again in 2016.

The Plan

When it comes to fitness and training people are just as lost here as they can be in comparison to any other aspect of their life that may not be working. The point is that most folks don’t have a set plan in place which is designed to address ALL of their needs physically in order to achieve an optimal level of fitness and health.

As I pointed out in the video a great start would be to make sure to engage and master the 7 primal, or foundational movements associated with the human body.

Push

Pull

Squat

Lunge

Twist

Bend

Gait

If you’re serious about making changes in the new year then you have to be set in your plan. You must have a plan and make sure that your plan is worth following. When it comes to programming you are safe to start by looking at being able to follow the 7 primal movements.

Look it doesn’t have to be fancy…it just needs to be effective. Results are obtained only by mastering the basics!

Combat The Lack Of Function

In order to combat a lack of physical function one must be willing to work at restoring, or maintaining function. Because our society has predominantly fallen victim to sitting in a chair for hours on end to be a part of a virtual world the hips and back tend to take the biggest beating in having a loss of function.

To combat this and to help to keep pushing to master the patterns of strength I like to implement what I refer to as a modified spider man stretch to mobilize the hips, knees, and ankles.

As you can see this will significantly open up the hips and allow you to perform a much needed hinge movement for the acts of squatting and bending. To combat the disease of immobility and to master the patterns of strength you’ve got to take care of those hips.

For this upcoming new year to fall victim to immobility and weakness. Be strong mentally and physically and take the proper measures to make sure you don’t adopt a soft lifestyle. Get rid of the damn video games and pick up a kettlebell!

If you are serious about adopting change then make sure you give yourself a solid assist in the matter by placing yourself an order for some of the WellPath Solution nutrition.
